TALK is a weekly classroom program taught by Mrs. Twaddle, Speech Therapist. Mrs. Twaddle spends thirty minutes each week in the Kindergarten, First and Second grade classes. The TALK Program emphasizes listening, auditory processing and vocabulary development, all of which are essential in developing reading, receptive and oral language skills. Another cornerstone of the TALK Program is developing thinking skills and oral language. The children are taught to compare and contrast objects and learn about figurative language, analogies and absurdities.
As part of the TALK program, Mrs. Twaddle introduces Spanish
vocabulary, phrases and simple sentences. The children are
enthusiastic about learning Spanish names for numbers,
colors, animals, months, days of the week and much more.
Mrs. Twaddle finds working within the classroom setting to be an enjoyable departure from teaching
small groups. She finds St. Agnes students enthusiastic and receptive to
learning new concepts.
