Lunch Recess Rules

Playground Rules and Expectations

 1.  Areas of Play are:  Kindergarten will play on the brown equipment across from the library.  Preschool outside equipment is not to be used during lunch time.  Primary grades (1st & 2nd) will use the rainbow equipment in back of the school and the basketball area on a rotating basis.   Grade 2 will be in the basketball area on Monday, Wednesday and Friday.  Grade 1 will be in the basketball area on Tuesday and Thursday.

Grades 4 & 5 will use the main church parking lot and the basketball area in rotation.  Grade 5 may use the basketball area on Monday and Wednesday.  Grade 4 may use the basketball area on Tuesday and Thursday.  Grade 3 will use the areas closest to the gym and basketball area on all days.

Grades 7 & 8 will play on the main church parking lot, on the assigned field areas or the basketball area in rotation.  Grade 8 may use the basketball area on Monday and Wednesday.  Grade 7 may use the basketball area on Tuesday and Thursday.  Grade 6 will use the areas closest to the gym and basketball are on all days.

 2. Students ARE NOT to switch areas of play between the church parking lot and the rainbow equipment in the back of the school.  Once students have chosen an area to play in, they are to remain there.

 3. Students playing on the brown and rainbow equipment ARE NOT to walk or run up the slides, play tag within the woodchip area, jump from the higher parts of the equipment, or lift the red discs from their bases (rainbow equipment).  Students ARE TO STAY OUT of all the tree areas and the area behind the garage.  Students in grades K-8 DO NOT play on the Preschool equipment.

 4. Students ARE NOT to play on the hill next to Amos Street on the tennis courts (unless assigned to do so) or around the trees along the tennis courts.  Students on the blacktop should stay away from the area near the church entrances.

 5. Students ARE NOT to take any food or drinks outside during recess.

 6. Students ARE NOT to go back into school without permission.  Students should use the restroom before going out to recess.

 7. Students ARE NOT to play rough during recess (i.e. tackling, pushing, shoving, or fighting). NO inappropriate language or hand gestures will be tolerated.

 8. Students ARE responsible for all playground equipment. Equipment is to be used properly.  Misuse of equipment is not permitted.  If a student takes equipment out of the class bag, that student is responsible for putting it back.

 9. Students ARE NOT to go out into the street after the balls.

10. Students ARE TO STAY OUT of puddles and out of the snow.

11. Students ARE to stop playing with balls and other equipment when a whistle blows or the bell rings.

12. Students ARE to line up quickly and orderly when the bell rings for the end of recess.  Equipment should be put away in the class bag.  Grades 1 & 2 will go around to the back of the school and line up by the west wing doors.  Grades 3 & 7 will line up by the gym doors.  Grades 4, 5, 6, & 8 will line up outside the front office doors to meet their teachers.

13. Students ARE to show respect for others and follow instructions given by the playground supervisors.  Bullying of others will not be tolerated.
