Dear Parents,

Grandparents/Special Guests are invited to attend Grandparents’ Day on Friday, September 11, 2009.  Children who may not have Grandparents may bring another guest (neighbor, aunt, uncle, friend) someone other than a parent who is significant in their lives. Please read over the following description of activities so that the morning will run smoothly for everyone.

The school will be open for a Grandparents’ Open House from 8:00 a.m. until the time of Mass at 10:15 a.m.  The school will be open for everyone to tour.  All grandparents and special guests are invited to come to school before Mass to see their child(ren)’s classroom(s) and meet their teacher(s), as well as to tour the library, gym, computer lab and other parts of the school.  The school will be open from 8:00 a.m. until around 10:00 a.m., when all will move to Church.  At 9:30 a.m. students and grandparents/special guests will gather in the gym and cafeteria for a short program.  Grandparents/Special Guests are free to come anytime during this Open House.

If grandparents arrive before 8:00 a.m., they should choose a room to go to with their grandchild for Morning Prayer.  Following Morning Prayer at 8:00 a.m. classes will demonstrate some activity in their rooms.  Grandparents may then pick up their grandchildren and move about the school touring the many different areas (be sure to visit the new Computer Lab), have bagels, juice and coffee in the cafeteria or gym (food and drink must remain in the eating area), or have pictures taken in the library.

Pictures will be taken in the library from 8:00 a.m. until 9:30 a.m. for any families wanting to capture the memory of Grandparents’/Special Guest Day 2009.  Volunteers will be on hand to photograph each family and pictures will be distributed the last week of September.  One photo is free of charge.  Additional photos ordered will be $1.00 each.  Orders will be taken in the library.  All may stop by the library sometime during the Open House morning hours with grandchildren to have a picture taken.

The children are free to leave with their grandparents or special guests as long as the attached form is filled out and returned to their teacher by Wednesday, September 9th.  If a child is not leaving with his/her grandparents but will be touring with them and sitting with them at Mass, please indicate that on the attached sheet.

Children who do not have grandparents or special guests attending this day will sit with their teacher for Mass and return to their classroom for regular 11:30 a.m. dismissal procedures.  The children will not be allowed to sit with their friend’s grandparents or special guests during Mass.  They may go home with a friend only if indicated on the attached form.  There is no Late Day on Grandparents’ Day.

Preschoolers will remain in their own class area during Grandparents’ Day.  Grandparents are invited to visit the Preschool Room on this day.  Children will remain in the Program and be dismissed as usual at 10:45 a.m. unless grandparents sign them out and the teacher is made aware of this.

Please read the attached form for your child’s options for the day and return it to your child’s homeroom teacher by Wednesday, September 9th.  A form is needed for each family so that we can insure the safety of all children on this very busy morning.  Thank you in advance for your cooperation in helping make this special day run smoothly and successfully.

If you have any questions, please direct them to the school office at (793-1370).

Blessings!

Sr. Joan
