School Computer Curriculum
|
Saint Agnes School has a LANS network within the
school building. It is Ethernet based and it
runs into every room in the school. Each
classroom has the potential of four networkable
computers, the computer lab has the potential for 35
networkable computers; and all other rooms in the
school have two networkable outlets. At
present, each classroom has 1-16 networked Macintosh
computers
that are Internet accessible while using a hub. Several
classrooms also have 1-3 PC computers. The computer lab
has just been updated to Dell PC computers that are Ethernet networked and
Internet accessible. The various
extracurricular teachers each have their own
Macintosh computers with Internet, and the office staff each
have their own Dell PC. In addition, the Library
houses 4Dell PC computers that are networked for the
Scholastic
Reading Counts program.
In addition to the above computers, the school has a
roaming cart that houses 31 Dell laptop computers
that can be used by any classroom within the school.
These laptops are wireless anywhere in the building. The laptops
have Internet capability as well as a writing
program for the younger grades and another for the
older grades. The laptops also have the entire
Microsoft Suite on them and a Spanish program. |
|
Our network is managed by a router, new
switches, new hubs and a
fiber optics line that extends throughout the building. Our Internet Service
Provider is the Diocese of Springfield at the
Diocesan Office on West Washington Street.
Because of the close proximity, our fiber optics
connection allows us to share a WAN (Wide Area
Network) with Sacred Heart-Griffin and the Diocesan
office. |
|
The school has a web site which can be found at
stagnes.dio.org and e-mail contacts may be
made to individual classes or staff as listed on
each web page. |
|
The Scholastic Reading Counts program is networked
to every computer in the school as part of our
library program and book reporting by the students. |
