Klondike Derby

Klondike DerbyThe Klondike Derby / Polar Bear Camporee will be held January 18-20, 2008 at Camp Illinek on Lake Springfield. The Scouts can "earn gold nuggets" by constructing a shelter and camping over night. We will schedule a trip to Illinek for Saturday morning January 12.

We should have a good count of the attendees by the Troop Meeting of January 8. If weather cooperates, we will plan on camping Friday and Saturday nights. The main activities will be Saturday.

A booklet describing the activities of the weekend is available from the Council web site - alincolnbsa.org. We will be reviewing the events at the Troop meetings of the 8th and 15th.

Pinewood / Fast Track

Pinewood DerbyCub Scout Pack 32 will be holding their Pinewood Derby on January 13 this year. The Boy Scouts of Troop 32 will again be running the "Fast Track Cafe" to provide snacks and drinks. This is an excellent opportunity to interact with the Cub Scouts and let them see how much fun is available in Boy Scouts. Please plan to lend your support for this joint event.

Summer Camp / High Adventure

It is not too early to be making plans for Summer Camp and the High Adventure Trip.

We will be attending Summer Camp at Camp Bunn, near Hettick, Illinois. We will need to know who is planning to attend by mid April. Note: All attendees will need a current physical form on file before attending camp. For those under 40, a medical professional signature within three years is required. For the rest of us, an annual visit is required.

The High Adventure Trip will be the first week of August, 8/3 - 8/9, 2008. We are planning a trip to Sleeping Bear Dunes in Michigan.

Scout Oath, Law, Motto & Slogan

Green Divider Line

The ideals of Boy Scouting are spelled out in the Scout Oath, the Scout Law, the Scout motto, and the Scout slogan. The Boy Scout measures himself against these ideals and continually tries to improve. The goals are high, and as he reaches for them, he has some control over what and who he becomes.
